We all know how frustrated I was with them when I
took tried to take the pointe class on Monday.
So, not surprisingly, I was hesitant about taking today’s pointe class.
I didn’t believe one bit that I would be alright in class.
However, you all know how much I want this dream. How much I really, really want this dream.
So I need to get comfortable on pointe.
Plus, I had hopes that the advice I got on Tuesday might already be helping my ankles.
So I put them on.
But not my new shoes, oh no… I put on my old ones. The dirty, perfectly broken in ones.
I stood up on pointe…
And I didn’t hurt.
So I kept them on for barre… being careful, but also working as hard as I could. Since it was a pointe class, there was of course a lot of pointework during barre. And yet… no pain. Weakness, sure… but no pain.
So I kept them on for center. And I could dance! Sure, there were a few things I couldn’t do… turns were a disaster, of course. Even so… I could dance.
I was on top of the world.
It all just goes to show… don’t rush to give up when something doesn’t work the first time around. If you put forth the effort and really try again… you might just surprise yourself.
I sure did.
