I love, love, love the way things are at the studio where I dance now. After two weeks, it’s starting to feel like home – just like my old pre-professional company did back when I was in high school. I’ve really missed that.

I’m beginning to get used to the way things work around here, and the other dancers are starting to accept me. It’s a good feeling.

And most of all, I love the way the teacher works. Today, she came up to me twice – “I’m impressed with how much improvement you’ve shown already in two weeks.” And then she immediately gives me a whole new set of corrections. I love it – I can see that I’m making progress, but at the same time I can never be bored or get lazy, because there’s always new corrections to work on.

And damn it, I’m working.

That’s right, it’s been only two weeks here. And wow, you should see me now. It’s like I’m a whole new dancer. Of course I still have a long way to go. (After all, I still utterly fail at turning on pointe… and fouettes? Yeah, right!) But even though I still get frustrated sometimes because so many of the students here are worlds ahead of me… even I’m pretty darn impressed with how quickly I’ve improved.

Especially when she gives me a correction in one class, and by the next class she’s exclaiming, “Good! That already looks better!”

Heck… at this rate, I can’t wait to see where I am in another two weeks.
