You know how it is. It’s the day before your big performance, and you find a little run in your last pair of good tights! You don’t have time to go out and buy more tights, so you can’t afford for the run to get any bigger before your performance. So how do you keep the run from getting bigger? Clear nail polish. Put the tights on (carefully, so you don’t make the run bigger). Dab clear nail polish on either end of the run, let dry. Remove tights. Wash if needed. Putting the tights on and leaving them on while the nail polish dries ensures that the tights are as stretched out as they will be when you are dancing in them, rather than drying unstretched and then tearing or making weird wrinkles when you put them on and dance in them.
thanks so much for the advice it really helped !
i had a run and didnt even notice it till right now and it 11 at night no time to go and buy a new pair ! or no money !!!
so thanks ton !
You can also spray some hairspray on them. I use both! :]
thank you sooooo… much, that really helped me. my tights got a little tear right before my nationals dance competition i had no time to buy another pair, i was so scared they would rip even more, but after i put the nail polish on each end of the tear i went on stage and i felt super confident! thank you so much!
Err…. This was stupid??
I have used clear polish before and it worked too. Other than proper care for your tights, choosing sturdy but flexible materials like lycra or nylon will keep your tights from tearing and running.
I AM SAVED! I’m competing tomorrow and I just went to put my costume on, just to check everything was good, and I had my one pair of pink tights on, THEN I CAUGHT MY TIGHTS WITH MY RHINESTONES! I will be dead for sure if my teacher notices the little one that I have now, but atleast it won’t be any bigger. Thank you soooooo much!
