NextDance

Welcome to nextdance!

Aug 20

It seems you have stumbled upon the nextdance.com blog… so I’m sure you have a few questions. Who is this person whose blog you are reading… what the heck is this website about… what is the point of this blog? Luckily for you, I’m here to give some answers! So here we go…

Who am I?

My name is Allison. I have been dancing for about 17 years, so I would say I know the dance world pretty well. Although I was primarily trained in ballet, I have also studied and performed jazz, tap, modern, ballroom, latin, and hip-hop (but believe me… you don’t want to see me doing hip-hop!) Nowadays, I’m not dancing as much as I used to but instead divide my time between school, making sushi, and working on nextdance.com.

So what is nextdance.com?

I can’t tell you what we are working on yet… it’s top secret! The invitation-only beta version should be out by the end of the year (I’ll let you know when we will be accepting requests for invitations), so when it gets closer to that time I’ll start giving you hints about what nextdance is all about. Meanwhile, you can tell me what you want nextdance to be! As a dancer, what do you want to see online that you just aren’t getting? We are always open to suggestions, so you can leave your suggestions in the comments, or if you are too shy you can e-mail me.

Alright, so what is this blog about?

This blog will be all about dance (of course :P ). I will post a lot of advice and tips that I have learned from my years as a dancer. There will be reviews of any dance related performances that I get to go see, and I will share my commentary about dancers and dances on shows such as So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing With the Stars. In addition, this is where I will post news and updates about nextdance.com, so keep posted!

Of course, I can’t possibly imagine every single question you might have, so if you have an unanswered question, feel free to ask in the comments or e-mail me! I’ll do my best to respond to every comment and e-mail as best I can!
